It’s easy to miss out on a good, full night’s sleep in college, but the difference an extra hour can make on your body is quite significant. Getting just the right amount of sleep can improve your health, mood, weight and more! Here are some reasons to sleep your way into a better life.

Drink More Water!

It sounds simple enough, but I have been really bad at sticking to this habit. It is so much easier for me to reach for a Coke or a Sprite when I am eating, especially when I am at a restaurant. In an effort to improve my life my choices, I am enforcing a rule that I drink ONLY water during the week. Friday through Sunday will be my “cheat days” but I am hoping this new routine will eliminate the temptation for soda and other options.

My Poor Pores

An improvement I want to make is to my skincare routine. Right now everyone is talking about is those blackhead masks that you peel away to witness all of the gunk that is being removed from your skin. I am fascinated by this, but have heard that not all masks are created equal. I understand that some products work really well and others not at all. I need your help! What products have you had the best experience with? Or have you made your own remedies that you absolutely love? What are your tips on staying fresh faced and flawless?

Numbers Lie

As part of my journey to improving myself I have been working out regularly and changing my eating habits. One thing I had to tell myself constantly however was not to check the scale everyday and when I did, not to get discouraged if the number was not what I was expecting. It is easy to feel like you are not making improvements if your weight is all you use to measure your progress. Remember that muscle weighs more than fat, and if you happen to remain the same weight or even gain a few pounds that does not mean you are not shedding those inches!

The pictures featured were taken within a month of each other, BUT the difference in weight was only 6 pounds! In the first picture I weighed an even 160 lbs, and on the right came in at 154 and on top of that, lost an inch off my waist, arms, and thighs. While I am not quite where I want to be, this was definitely the encouragement I needed to keep going, and I hope it can give to you a little push as well. If the number on the scale ever gets you down, just remember NUMBERS LIE!
